Monday 8th August 2016 by BASE Serviced Apartments
Spot of tea anyone? In case you didn’t know, this week is Afternoon Tea Week – a celebration of one of Britain’s most quaint dining traditions.
For the uninitiated, Afternoon Tea is a tea-related ritual introduced in Britain during the early 1840’s which has since evolved as a mini-meal composed of miniature sandwiches (traditionally cut into ‘fingers’), scones with clotted cream and jam, selection of pastries and cakes, scones with clotted cream and jam, and of course, a good old fashioned pot of tea.
Initially developed as a private event for high class women in the upper echelons of society, Afternoon Tea is today enjoyed as an occasional indulgence or in celebration of a special event such as a birthday, pre-wedding or baby showers with a group of friends or family.
All week long, people throughout the UK will be celebrating one of the nations favourite culinary traditions for Afternoon Tea week; we’re a nation of tea drinkers after all!
We at Base Serviced Apartments have decided to do our part for the celebration and find out where best to enjoy Afternoon Tea Week in Liverpool City Centre.
